As we seek success and fulfillment in this volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous (VUCA) world, we find Creativity as a superpower. Beyond artistic talent lies a mindset and skillset which drive professional achievement and personal satisfaction--- the new Creativity. The journey from the early days of LEGO to rejuvenating a 250 year old pencil business help tell this fun and engaging story.
JAMIE GALLAGHER grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, and graduated from the University of Notre Dame before embarking on a 40-year career in the toy and creative products industries as a senior marketing executive with LEGO, and CEO of Playmobil USA and Faber-Castell USA.

Children's Summer Program
Musiquita

Musiquita is a playful exploration of music in Spanish and English, guided by a wife/husband duo, Blanca Cecilia González (vocals/violin/ukulele/percussion) and Jesse Elder (vocals/piano/melodica/percussion.)
The couple performs a wide variety of music appropriate for all ages. Musiquita has two central goals: To uplift and encourage children and to strengthen and deepen the bonds between young people and the adults in their lives.
Blanca received her Masters in Music from the Juilliard School.
Jesse studied at the New School University, Oberlin Conservatory and Interlochen Arts Academy.

Children's Summer Program
Luunappi
Fri, Aug 7th at 10:30am
Leland Library
Luunappi is a Finnish word for "a finger snap to the ear". For us, it means Norm Wheeler and Pat Niemisto visit the library with snappy songs and stories for kids and kids at heart. Think sing-a-long songs, poems and tall tales.
They will perform on the back lawn so please bring a chair or blanket. They'll be in the Munnecke Room if it rains.

Children's Summer Program
Improv for Kids with Full Tilt

A 30 minute interactive improv performance with Full Tilt Improv followed by improv games - fun for all participants.
This will be on the back lawn so please bring a chair or blanket. They'll be in the Munnecke Room if it rains.
This is the final Children's Summer Program of the 2026 season. Storytime resumes on September 11th.

LTL Book Group Discussion of True Grit by Charles Portis
Thurs, Aug 20th at 10am and 2pm

True Grit tells the story of Mattie Ross, who is just fourteen when the coward Tom Chaney shoots her father in Fort Smith, Arkansas, and robs him of his life, his horse, and $150 cash. Filled with an unwavering urge to avenge her father’s blood, Mattie finds and, after some tenacious finagling, enlists one-eyed Rooster Cogburn, the meanest available US Marshal, as her partner in pursuit, and they head off into Indian Territory after the killer.
Copies are available at the library. All are welcome to attend either discussion.
